Breakfast at the hotel and departure for Jerash, the Pompeii of the East. Enter Jerash through the monumental South Gate and find yourself walking in a Roman city. Walk in the Oval Plaza surrounded by colonnades, visit the Roman theater and Byzantine churches with mosaic floors. Enjoy a walk along Jerash’s main street, the Cardo, and pass by the Nymphaeum. Experience the wonderful acoustics of the theater, stage of the annual Jerash Music Festival. Learn how the Romans built the earthquake-resistant columns of the colonnaded streets. Next, Ajloun Castle, another highlight of northern Jordan. The Qalat er-Rabad, as Ajloun Castle is locally known, was the base for Saladin’s Arab forces where he defeated the Crusaders in the 12th century. The Ajloun Mountains are famous for their lush vegetation and dense green forests ideal for trekking and excursions. Return to discover the capital and the largest city in Jordan. Political, cultural, and commercial center of the country, already known thousands of years ago as Rabbat Ammoun. The Citadel offers a panoramic view of the city, which you will enjoy while walking among timeless Roman ruins. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, leave Amman to visit Madaba, located 30 kilometers southwest of the capital. Best known for its Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics, especially a large Byzantine mosaic map of the Holy Land. Madaba, one of the most spectacular church cities in the world; the Church of St. George where the mosaic map of Jerusalem is located painted on the church floor. Next, Mount Nebo, where Moses was buried, with a wonderful view from the mountain towards the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Jericho on the other side of the Jordan River. Continue to Siq el-Barid (Little Petra), located near the main site, a preview of what Petra will be, the village carved in the Stone Age 8,000 years ago, located at Beidah. A miniature Petra with a modest gorge but wonderful rock-cut temples, caves, and multicolored rock walls, and being less visited, it has its own unique atmosphere. Transfer to Petra, accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, we will begin the visit of the capital of the ancient Nabataean kingdom, Petra. The lost city of Petra, entirely carved by man into the rose-pink sandstone rocks, tests your imagination. It is a mystical experience and glorious place, an eternal tribute to a lost civilization. Petra was the central meeting point of the Nabataean spice routes coming from the Persian Gulf, Western Arabia, and the Red Sea. About two thousand years ago Petra became the capital of the Nabataean Empire. The city was so renowned that one of its kings, Aretas IV, is even mentioned in the Bible. The natural wealth of the mountainous area combines superbly with the refined culture and imposing architecture of the Nabataeans, who carved their theaters and temples, tombs, monasteries, houses, streets entirely covered with rose-pink sandstone rocks. No wonder UNESCO has listed Petra as a World Heritage Site. You enter Petra passing through the Siq, a deep and narrow gorge, at the end of which the most famous monument of Petra suddenly appears dramatically: Al-Khazneh or the Treasury. You might recognize it as the stage of the final sequence of the film "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade." But the Treasury is just the beginning. Walking and climbing around Petra you will discover hundreds of buildings carved in stone and eroded over centuries into fabulous multicolored walls. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for Wadi Rum; enjoy a 2-hour 4x4 jeep tour exploring the most spectacular sites in the area, concluding with a refreshing cup of tea prepared by the Bedouins. Afterwards, transfer to your hotel in Amman for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for the Dead Sea, the lowest point on Earth, lying 423 meters below sea level. You’ll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Dead Sea and experience the unique sensation of floating while giving your skin a natural beauty treatment. Let yourself be carried by the waves, indulge in a treatment, enjoy a massage, or try the healing properties of the mineral-rich mud. Dinner and overnight stay at the Dead Sea.
After breakfast, relax on the shores of the Dead Sea and enjoy free time for optional treatments. Dinner and overnight stay.
Unfortunately, all great things must come to an end. Transfer to Queen Alia International Airport. End of services.
Have a good trip!
