Highlights of Jordan (8 Days 7 Nights)

DAY 1 - Amman Airport – Amman

Arrive to Amman airport (QAIA). Meet and greet at the airport. Transfer to your hotel for overnight.

DAY 2 - City Tour of Amman – Desert Castles – Amman

You will start with a city tour of Amman, visiting the Citadel, the Roman Theater before heading towards the Desert Castles, forts and hunting lodges, most where the domain of Umayyad Caliphs. Qusayr Amra is a UNESCO world heritage site. The black basalt fort of Azraq is in continuous use since the Roman times, was the headquarters of Lawrence of Arabia. Then we will head to hotel in Amman for overnight.

DAY 3 - Amman – Jerash – Ajloun – Amman

After breakfast, drive north of Amman towards Jerash (Gerasa) where you will visit the best-preserved Roman city of the Decapolis. Enter through the monumental South Gate the city of Jerash, where you will come upon the lovely Oval Plaza, the Temple of Zeus, and the South Theater, which seats more than 3,000 spectators. Walk through the Colonnaded Street & pass by the Market Place, the Omayyad residential quarter, the 4th century AD Cathedral, St. Theodore’s Church, the Nymphaeum & the North Theater. Proceed to visit the stronghold of Qala’at el-Rabbad in Ajloun. This medieval fortress, was built by the Arabs of the Ayyubid dynasty around AD 1185 as a defense against the Crusaders and was once surrounded by a 16 m wide moat with a drawbridge. Head back to your hotel in Amman for dinner & overnight.

DAY 4 - Amman – Madaba – Mt. Nebo – Dead Sea

After breakfast, head towards Madaba, the city of Mosaics, this has the oldest known mosaic map of the Holy Land. After that we will head to view the Jordan Valley from the famous Mount Nebo. Then drive down to the Dead Sea, 423 m below sea level, the most spectacular natural spas in the world, the Dead Sea! You will be able to swim in the Dead Sea (The Salt Lake) where the mineral concentration in the mud is used for therapeutic and beauty treatments. You will have a one of a kind of floating experience due to the high salinity of water! Treat yourself and benefit from the healing properties of mud and salty water. Overnight at your hotel in Dead Sea.

DAY 5 - Dead Sea – Kerak – Petra

Breakfast, swimming and relaxation at your hotel. At noon time: continue through the stunning canyon of Wadi el Mujib to Kerak, where you will visit its imposing Crusader castle built in AD 1142. Visitors will be amazed by the network of the dimly lit vaulted rooms and corridors, interconnected through heavy arches and doorways. Then proceed to your hotel in Petra for overnight.

DAY 6 - Petra (Full day visit)

After breakfast, a full day dedicated for the exploration of the breathtaking Nabataean city of Petra which was carved out of the rose-red sandstone about 2,000 years ago & has recently been voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. The tour starts by passing by the Obelisk Tomb and then proceeding through the Siq – the narrow gorge that leads to Petra’s most impressive monument, the Treasury. Then on to the Street of Facades, the Theater, the Royal Tombs, the Colonnaded Street, the Byzantine Church, the Temple, the Monumental Arch, Qasr el-Bint Faroun & finally climb up to the gigantic 1st century AD monument of the Monastery for those who wish. Return back to your hotel in Petra for overnight.

DAY 7 - Petra – Little Petra – Wadi Rum (02 hrs 4×4) – Amman

After breakfast and check-out: drive to one of the region’s most important archaeological sites, the 9,000 year old Neolithic settlement of Beidha and to the nearby Siq el-Barid, a miniature Petra (Little Petra) with its own small Siq (gorge), carved tombs and monuments. After that, we head further down to southern Jordan to visit another significant site Wadi Rum. Wadi Rum was best described by T.E. Lawrence as “Vast, echoing and god-like”, and by the locals as “Valley of the Moon”. Here you will have the opportunity to drive through the Jordanian desert by your 4×4 Jeeps in a 2 hours Jeep ride to explore the most spectacular sites of the area, ending with a cup of tea made by Bedouins after your visit. Upon completion, transfer to your hotel in Amman for overnight.

DAY 8 - Amman – Amman Airport

After breakfast, transfer to QAIA for your next destination where your memorable tour comes to its end.
